The Anti-Villa
2019
Fire Island, New York
A “voluntary seclusion” into a library was the starting point for researching about “living in nature”. This “house” with no owner is not a villa. In this way, the project moves away from the notion of enjoyment and relaxation and raises introspection as the central idea. And is precisely this introspection, lighted only with skylights, that allows the reader to surrender to the books, to the knowledge of humanity, to an endless collection of windows to see this world. Furthermore, in this continuous space, in the geometric inflection points, small windows appear. These transition zones remember, very quickly, that there is an exterior. In such manner, the anteroom to introspection, to zenithal light, is given by these disproportionate windows, almost doors through which the body does not fit
